Guided Tour

Service Description

Up to 1 ½ hours with a local tour guide. You will be equipped with a mining helmet and black light for the duration. Enjoy the tour showcasing history of Coober Pedy, mining, and opal. Listen to the techniques of opal mining, noodling and black lighting. Live demonstration of a working Blower and Bosun Chair. Questions are welcomed and encouraged. Children have the opportunity for an opal hunt along the way. At the end of your guided tour complimentary scones, cream & jam. Adults - barista made coffee or tea. Children - chocolate or strawberry milk. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements e.g. dairy or gluten free. At the end of your tour children have the opportunity to negotiate an opal sale in exchange for a coin and/or sweets! Please note: During our first month of opening, the 1:30 pm tour is subject to minimum numbers. If the minimum is not reached, we will contact you to reschedule or arrange a refund.
